The Sherbrooke Museum of Nature and Science, the Sherbrooke Historical Society and M.U.R.I.R.S. have joined forces to offer a totally new interactive cultural heritage walking tour of downtown Sherbrooke.
The Past Comes to Life Tour presents a brand-new visitor experience with the addition of an iPad video guide, utilizing cutting-edge, simple to use technology, accessible to everyone. The touch-screen device, linked to a satellite-based global positioning system (GPS), allows the user to pinpoint their own location within the historical area of Sherbrooke that they are exploring.
In addition to discovering, or re-discovering, the magnificent Sherbrooke murals, excursionists will follow a route packed with historic points of interest, including five archaeological stops related to the Native American occupation of the Sherbrooke area. The information presented is based on archaeological discoveries of the last 50 years, and several artifacts from these excavations can be viewed at the Sherbrooke Museum of Nature and Science.
The one-day video guide rental fee is $10. The device may be picked up at either the museum or the Sherbrooke Historical Society and must be returned before the close of business on the day of rental.
*Receive a $2 discount off the iPad video guide rental fee with presentation of the discount coupon, which can be printed out from the promotions section of the museum website.
