The majestic beauty of the Ornithoptera resides not only in the rich, velvety translucence and harmony of their colors, but also in the variations in both their wing formation and decoration. History recounts that the first explorers were confused when they saw Ornithoptera in flight with birds – hence the name: birdwing.
