Hubert and Nicolas Reeves and the blending of arts and sciences : A fascinating presentation

October 15 2008

The interest for the great achievements and the words of Hubert Reeves do not fade with time: Absolutely not.  We had proof of that on October 15, 2008 at the Granada Theater, during the latest event in the Museum’s conference series with great speaker of our times for the Museum’s foundation.  More than 450 people attended this once in a lifetime event that attracted teachers, students, creators and artists.  People came to listen to one of the world’s most respected astrophysicist and his son, a unique physicist, architect, creator and teacher.  Both father and sons elaborated on the parallels and the blending of arts and sciences, a conference called: ‘’A few notes on a piece of paper’’.

‘’Arts and sciences are just like an old couple.  Both are necessary for the perception of reality’’, they said during the conference.  Going back in time, the two thinkers explained to a fascinated audience that at one point in time during the Renaissance, arts and sciences made one.  After centuries of having been set apart, the last few decades saw the two fields coming back together for a closer rapport.

For the ones who have missed this exceptional event, you can buy a DVD copy of the conference at the Museum’s boutique.

The Museum’s foundation will soon plan for another exceptional event with a known speaker.  Meanwhile, we urge you to stay tuned to our website for more information and upcoming events.
