It is a well-known fact
that without salt our food would be rather bland. But are we aware that salt is
much more than a seasoning? It is essential to the proper functioning of each of
the ten billion cells in our body. Provided, however, it is in a state of
equilibrium: without salt the body becomes dehydrated and the heart stops
beating; too much salt brings with it the risk of high blood pressure, commonly
referred to as the “silent killer”.

Are we aware that, without
salt, we would be deprived of the many products that are part of our daily lives
such as detergents, glass and plastic material? The harvesting and processing of
salt reflect the ingenuity of the human spirit. Once it has been extracted from
the sea and the land by the work of man, the salt is called solar salt, rock
salt or igneous salt. Its countless uses are all based on these three forms. On the planet, salt reserves are inexhaustible. The origin of
salt is lost in the mists of time and its history is intertwined with that of
humanity. It has caused wars, served as money of exchange, was taxed and was at
the forefront of the industrial revolution. As time went by salt acquired a
symbolic value due in large part to its chemical and physical properties, to
which world-wide beliefs and rituals became attached.
Learn how its remarkable
history parallels that of humankind. A little crystal that's full of surprises.
Storage space of 20 square meters or 215 square feet for the
6 transport crates and 7 dolleys.

seven zones made of 14 self-supporting modules.
The modules that make up the discovery space
are each equipped with a wooden structure, interactive or audiovisual. These
interchangeable modules can be adapted to different room shapes.
More specifically, this exhibition
includes:
